Essay : The Extinction of Animals

What does it means by extinction? Wikipedia defines extinction in terms of biology and ecology as the end of an organism or a group of organism, normally a species. The moment of extinction is generally considered to be the death of the last individual of the species, although the capacity to breed and recover may have been lost before this point. Besides of this fact, there are 10 most amazing extinct animals which are Tyrannosaurus Rex (extinct 65 million years ago), Quagga (extinct since 1883), the Tasmanian Tiger (extinct since 1883), Steller’s Sea Cow (extinct since 1768), Irish Deer (extinct about 7,700 years ago), Caspian Tiger (extinct since 1970), Aurochs (extinct since 1627), Great Auk (extinct since 1627), Cavelion and Dodo (extinct since 17th century).
One of  important question that should we asked ourselves is what are the reasons that lead to animal extinction? The answer could be lack of consideration in  appreciating animals and the importance to preserved them. This is what might happened to Dodo bird in Mauritius. The Dutch and Portuguese brought along with them hungry convicts and sailors that killed it for food. Not only that, the unfortunate bird faced breeding threat when the introduced animals such as monkey, dogs and rats destroyed their eggs in the ground. Nowadays, the same situations happens. Some hunters kills animals to sell their parts in the illegal market. For example, tigers are killed for their furs and bones, while elephants for their trunks.
Besides that, habitat destruction is another reason that caused to animal extinction. In these modern world, our planet is altered and modified to fulfill the demand of development. Usually, the change will occur at a fast pace. Thus, the animals lives there will have no time to react and adjust to the new environment and circumstances. They face difficulty to gather enough food to survive or  Not only animals, buat also plants species will be endangered. The reasons for this is that habitat destruction will caused the soil loss its microbes that support tropical forest.

Not only that, another factor for species extinction is pollution. Pollution will automatically changes the habitat of animals. It plays a significant role in extinction. For an example, water pollution is harmful to be drink by animals. Furthermore, toxic waste from industrial sectors pollute the food chain and devastates the animals. As a result, there will be lesser of safe food and drinks. Imagine if this happens to a span of animal living area, all the animals species that lived there will be in a great danger and thus, extinction will happens in a blink of an eye.
